Before you begin

Required tools and materials

Ensure that the tools and materials identified in the following checklist are available.
You might need to use them to perform installation tasks:

Antistatic ESD wrist strap (recommended)
Two Phillips cross-head screwdrivers (No. 1 and No. 2)
Standard slot-head screwdriver (1/4" and 1/2")
Sidecutters
Jumper removal tool or needle-nosed pliers
Tweezers
Tape measure for determining cable lengths
Pen for writing notes, cable lengths, and cable identifications
Cable tie wraps
Cable identification labels
Equipment log
The equipment log is used to record the model and serial number of the
system, all installed options, and other information.
Null modem serial cable (it can be useful for troubleshooting)
Laptop computer and CD-ROM drive (to read documentation on
CD-ROM and to connect to the network on which the server is located
for troubleshooting)
