Replacing a power cell

Safety instructions for replacing a power cell
Danger to life as a result of defective discharge resistors
High voltages may occur at the DC link capacitors of the power cells due to defective
discharge resistors. Touching live components can result in death or serious injury.
● The five safety rules (Page 13) must be observed.
● Before replacing a power cell, ensure the following:
Risk of injury caused by incorrectly removing a power cell
Each power cell comprises two mechanical units, which can be separated:
● IGBT module with a weight of approximately 40 kg
● Capacitor bank with a weight of approximately 55 kg
Removing the power cells incorrectly can lead to serious injury and material damage.
● When installing and removing the power cell, do not position yourself below the individual
NOTICE
Malfunction when replacing individual capacitors
It is not permissible to individually replace capacitors in the capacitor bank. If this is not
observed, this can result in malfunction.
● Only replace the complete capacitor bank.
NOTICE
Damage to components when using impact screwdrivers
Even with the correct torque, components can be damaged when using an impact
screwdriver. This can cause the device to fail.
● Never use an impact screwdriver.

WARNING
– The power cell is grounded at the input and output.
– There is no voltage at the power cells.
Check that the power cells are in a no-voltage condition at the terminals of the power
cell as well as the connections of the capacitor bank.
CAUTION
