9.2.10 Energy-saving mode

The standard punching system must not be operated in the stand-by mode,
because the positioning accuracy can then not be adhered to.
Fig. 68: Energy saving
To reduce energy consumption, the SYEPS punching system can be switched to the
stand-by mode. In this mode, no dynamic axis movements can be performed. It
merely serves to reduce energy consumption while the punching axis is at rest and
just has to maintain its position. The stand-by mode is activated by opening switches
LPon and HPon. As a result, the command value for the ER pressure control valves
on the pump is 0 V.
Another possibility of reducing energy consumption is the reduction of the max.
pressure of the HP pump and consequently the punching force. If, for example, a
max. force of only 20 t is required for a 30 t cylinder, the max. HP pressure can be
lowered from 290 to 195 bar.
This value can be established during commissioning and entered in R parameter
R521 "HPmax command value". This R parameter can be optimally and dynamically
adjusted to the required punching force over Profibus.
