Surroundings
When you use wood as a heating source you should always burn in a manner that is gentle to
your surroundings and the environment. It is important that you think about the people who live
in your surroundings. Try to keep the following things in mind.
The fuel
Effecta Smart is tested to be fired with wood logs. What kind of wood has no greater effect to
the boilers operation, except that hardwood has a greater calorific value than softwood. The
result of using hardwood is that the accumulator is heated quicker with hardwood in compari-
son to softwood. Hardwood is heavier and more dense than softwood which results in that the
amount of wooden materia is more compressed and compact in the gasification chamber. This
leads to an even and dense gas production which makes the boiler more stable during its firing
cycle. Burning with only oakwood gives a higher wear to the ceramics, we recommend to mix
oak with other kinds of wood.

When you are firing big firewood and small firewood should be mixed with the largest at the top.
You should not only fire with chopped firewood or the other way around. If you only fire with
chopped firewood the boiler burns in a higher effect, this reduces the lifespan of the wear parts,
such as the ceramics etc. If you only fire with large firewood the boiler will burn at a lower effect
with low flue gases, this may damage the chimney due to condensation.
Never burn environmentally harmful waste such as impregnated or painted wood, household
waste, plastic or rubber etc.
Storing the fuel
To use Effecta Smart to it fullest the wood quality must be good. It is important that the wood
has been stored so it has a moisture content of 15-20%. Split the wood within 2-6" in diame-
ter large pieces. Try to take advantage of the sun and wind when you store the wood, the wind
should be able to blow through the wood for a quick drying. Keep in mind that the efficiency
reduces significantly if there is to much moisture in the wood. Always use the full length of the
fire chamber, the log length should be close to 20" in length.
