6.3 Where sensors should not be placed

Do not mount sensors on the following locations:
Motor winding areas
Middle of motor
Pump casing
Cooling fan fins/covers
Coupling belt guards, gearboxes
Seal locations

6.4 Determining the Number of Sensors to Place on Equipment

The larger the equipment under test, the greater the number of sensors re-
quired; this is because vibrations can go undetected if the sensors are posi-
tioned too far from the source of vibration. Vibration is absorbed by the
equipment after travelling approximately 1 m (3.3 ft.), so you'll want to situate
sensors to maximize coverage.
