Failure to follow these precautions may result in system instability and may cause
permanent damage to system components.
National Instruments UMI-7774/7772 User Manual
National Instruments offers a variety of products for use with the
UMI-7774/7772, including the following:
Mounting accessories. Refer to the
section for information about specific equipment for each available
mounting package.
Separate +24 V power supply for isolated I/O.
Additional SHC68-C68-S cable (0.5 m or 2 m) with 68-pin VHDCI
offset male connectors on both ends. Use this cable to connect the
digital I/O connector on the National Instruments motion controller
to the digital I/O connector on the UMI-7774/7772.
9-, 15-, and 25-pin D-SUB to flying lead cables (part number
190911-04, 19012-04, and 19013-04). Use these cables to connect the
UMI-7774/7772 D-SUB connectors to third-party drives and feedback
devices.
This section provides information about noise considerations and safety
guidelines as well as instructions for unpacking the UMI-7774/7772.
Before connecting the UMI-7774/7772, verify that all system components
are grounded correctly and that all wiring is properly shielded. Do not
connect high-voltage wires and low-level signals to the same channel.
The following list includes additional noise considerations.
Keep high voltage lines, such as AC power cables and motor drive
cables, away from low-level signals, such as encoders and limits.
Use twisted pair cable for differential signals, such as encoders.
Ensure that all cables connected to the UMI-7774/7772 include a
braided shield.
Use hoods with internal metallic shielding for D-SUB connectors.
