Check that the oil level is between the
MIN and MAX references on the dipstick
(A). If the level of the oil is close to or
below the MIN mark, add oil via the
filler fitting (B) until the MAX mark is
reached.
1.0 and 1.3 versions
The engine oil level dipstick (A) is
integral with the cap (B). Unscrew the
cap, clean the dipstick with a lint-free
cloth, reinsert the dipstick and screw the
cap back on.
Unscrew the plug again and check that
the engine oil level is between the MIN
and MAX marks on the dipstick.
When the operation is complete, screw in
the cap/dipstick correctly.
Insertion of engine oil cap/dipstick (1.3
versions)

To reinsert the engine oil cap/dipstick
correctly, proceed as follows:
insert the cap/dipstick into its housing,
aligning reference A fig. 206 present
on the cap/dipstick with reference B

fig. 207 present on the engine cover (for
versions/markets, where provided));
screw in the cap/dipstick correctly.

16V Multijet versions
Take out the engine oil dipstick (A),
clean it with a lint-free cloth and reinsert
it.
Extract it again and check that the
engine oil level is between the MIN and
MAX marks on the dipstick.

The maximum engine oil consumption
is usually 400 grams every 1000 km.

During the initial period of use the
engine oil consumption conditions
should be considered as having
stabilised after the first 5000 -
6000 km.
