9: Problem Solving

authorised repair centre.
Fault Symptom
Smokemeter fails to zero
Smokemeter does not respond
to exhaust smoke
Loss of Communication
between handset and base
unit
No Printout
Not charging
Smokemeter fails to warm up
Lens "sooting" up
Causes / Solutions
Perform "ZeroChek"
Dirty lens or measurement tube -
may require cleaning
Probe not inserted.
Ultra clean engine not triggering
peak test – adjust trigger
Flat battery in handset or base
unit – change handset & charge
base
Bluetooth out of range. Will
require restart to re-establish
Cable has become disconnected
(if in use)
Will only print following peak test
Check printer alignment
Change printer batteries
Ensure base switch in on position
Check charging indicator is
flashing
Check supply light on mains
charger
Connect to external supply
Vehicle exhaust very dirty
remedial action required
