Finishing Around Front of the Fireplace

Non-combustible finishing material (such as ½" cement board, brick, stone, tile, minimum 5/8" (13 mm) Type X fire
rated drywall) MUST be used to finish around the front of the appliance . Covered combustible material, can be used
to finish around the fireplace, if the proper distance from the fireplace is maintained .
Non-Combustible finishing material must protect any combustible finishing material that is installed above fireplace
glass . See ‟Mantel Clearance" for requirements .
DO NOT connect materials to or drill into the metal fireplace frame. This can result in excessive heat transfer
and/or damage to the fireplace and surrounding materials.
