Step 2: Connect RS485 interface A and B of the electric meter to RS485-2 interface A2 and B2 of
gateway, see ⑥.
3) Communication wire connection between gateway and VRF Monitoring System (PC):
Step 1: Prepare a router with DHCP function;
Step 2: Connect the ―ETHERNET‖ communication interface of the gateway to the router or a
repeater, or PC with cables, see ⑦.
4) Energize all units and then energize the gateway.
5) Check the status of communication indicator. For example, if CAN_RX flashes, it means the
gateway can receive the data sent by the unit; if it doesn't flash, please check connection wire
connection and DIP switches.

2.3 Introduction of Optoelectronic Isolated Repeater

2.3.1. Function introduction
Function of optoelectronic isolated repeater
1) To ensure the signal completeness and prevent the signal from attenuation under long distance
communication when the distance of the whole communication line exceeds 800m.
2) The general optoelectronic isolated repeater at present can support 32 nodes and ensure
completeness of their communication signals. When the communication nodes in the network exceed 32,
the communication signal will become incomplete. To ensure reliable transmission and completeness of
the signals, we require that repeater must be used when the number of nodes in the network exceeds
30.
It flashes when the gateway sends data to CAN bus.
It flashes when the gateway receives data from CAN bus.
It flashes when the gateway sends data to RS485 bus.
It flashes when the gateway receives data from RS485 bus.
It lights on when the gateway is powered normally.
It flashes when the gateway is in normal operation.
It flashes when the gateway has an error.
