ENGINE O'L V .COSITY CHART
NOTE: SAE 5W·30 OIls Ire recommended
for all seasons in vehicles normally operated in
Canada. SAE 5W·20 oils are not recom·
mended for sustained high·speed driving. SAE
30 oils may be used at temperatures above
40"F.
The proper oil viscosity helps assure good cold
and hot starting.
Automatic transmission filter
and fluid recommendations
Use only automatic transmission fluids identified
with the mark OEXRON. These fluids have been
specilily formulated Ind tested for use in your
automatic transmission, and are lVailable from
your Cadillac dealer or local service station.
Check the fluid level It each engine oil change
period. To mIke In Iccurate f1u,d level check:
1. OrNe car several miles, making frequent
starts and stops, to bring transmission up to
normal operating temperature (approx-
imately 170 F.).
2. Park car on I level SUrflce.
3. Place selector lever

"Par1t" and leave
engine running.
4. Remove dipstick and wipe clean.
5. Reinsert dipstK:k until
cap
seats.
6. Remove dipstick and nott reading.
If
fluid level is It or below the AOO mark,
add sufficient fluid to ra'se the level to the
FULL mark. One pint raises the level from AOO
to FULL. 00 not overfill.
Under normal driving conditions, the transmis-
sion filter Ind fluid should be changed every
100,000 miles. If your car is driven extensively in
helVY' city traffic during hot weather, or is used to
pull I trliler, change fluid every 50,000 miles.
likewise, operators of cars in commercial use
(such IS taxi·cab or limousine service) whe.. the
eng,nl idles for long periods, should change fluid
every 50,000 miles.
