Turn
signals-lane-change
feature
You may signal your intention to turn or maneu-
ver by operating the turn signal lever located on
the left side of the steering column. The signal
functions when operated with the ignition switch
in the "RUN" position.

E SIGNAL LEVER
• Left turn-Move lever down until it clicks
into position to continuously flash the left-
hand parking light, taillight, and instrument
cluster turn indicator light.
• Right turn-Move lever upward until
it
clicks
into pasHian to continuously flash the
right-
hand parking, tail, and turn indicator lights.
After the steering wheel has been turned a suffi-
cient amount returning the wheel to the straight-
ahead pOSItion automatically cancels turn SIgnal
operatlof\. The signal may also be canceled
manualfy by moving the lever to the center or off
pOSItion.
To signlf maneuvers that require httle move·
ment of
the
steermg wheel, such as changing a"-S,
you may move the turn signal lever in the desired

Cornering lights
Cadillac front fender cornenng lights operate in
conjunction with the turn signals. When the turn
signal is operating in either dlrecuon, with the
headlights or parking lights on, the corresponding
cornering light emits a steady sideward beam to
provide additional illumination.
Back-up lights
The back-up lights in the rear bumper area pro·
vide lighting toward the fear of
the
car when the
ignition switch is in the "RUN" poslbon and the
transmission selector lever
is

Power steering
Cadillac's power steering provides ease in handling,
parking and getting into or out of tight places.
Power steering assist is provided by a hydraulic
pump driven by the engine.
If the steenng system power assist fails due to
some malfunction, or because the engine has
stilled, the car can still be steered. HO'NeVer, much
.eater effort is required, particularly in sharp
turns.
