Towing
Proper lifting or towing equipment is necessary to
prevent damage to the vehicle during any towing
operation. State (Provincial in Canada) and local
laws applicable to vehicles in tow must also be
followed, Cadillac dealers can advise you on the
selection of a knowledgeable towing concern.
Your Cadillac may be towed on all four wheels,
at speeds of less than 35 MPH, for distances up to
50 miles, provided driveline, axle and transmission
are otherwise normally operable. For such towing,
SPARE TIRE, JACK, AND TOOL STOWAGE
parking brake must be released, and transmission
must be in neutral, ignition lock turned to OFF
position.
NOTE: Before lifting the FRONT of the
vehicle for the purpose of towing, release the
primary hood latch by pulling the "HOOO"
hendle below left side of dash. This permits
the correct grill-ta-hood clearance for towing.
00 NOT release the secondary latch. Check
(by pulling upward on the hood) to be sure
the secondary latch prevents the hood from
opening more than approximately two inches.
On cars equipped with theft deterrent system,
set .,Iector switch to ARM PREVENT before
unlatching hood.
Attachments must be to main structural mem-
bers of the car, not to bumpers or bracketing.
Separate safety chains or cables should be used.
Remember that power brake and steering assists
will not be available when engine is inoperative.
When a speed of 35 MPH or distance of 50 miles
will be exceeded, or when the transmission is not
