See yoor Cadillac dealer for advice on the
frequency of oil and filter changes under unusual
driving conditions.
The pmiou. recommendations apply to the
first oil change as well as subsequent oil changes.
The oil change intervaJ for your Cadillac engine is
based on the use of SE oil. and quality oil filters.
Oil change intervab longer than those recom-
mended will seriousfy reduce engine life Bnd may
affect Cadillac's obligation under the provisions of
the New Vehicle Warranty.
A high quality SE oil was installed in your
engine
8t
the factory.
It
is not necessary to
change this factory·installed oil prior to the
recommended normal change period. However,
check the oil IMI rna.. frequently during the
break·in period since higher oil consumption is
normal until the piston rings become seated.
I
t is normal to add some oil before the drain
period. Requirements Mil vary, depending on the
type of driving you do, but the addition alone

proper oil and filter change intervals assure
you 01 continued reliability and performance
from yoor Cadillac engine.
Checking Oil Level-Engine oil should be main·

after engine is shut off wait several minutes
to allow normal oil accumulation in the
engine to drain back into the crankcase.
• Remove the oil dip stick and wipe it clean.
• Reinsert it fully, remove and observe oil
level.
The oil dipstiCk

tained between the lines neither going above the
"FULL" lin. nor appreciably below the "Add 1
Ot." line. The engine oil filler cap i. located on
top of the right rocker arm cover.
• Reseat the dipstick firmly after taking the
final reading.

required when the oil filter
i. changed.
Supplemental Engine Oil Additives-The regular
use of supplemental additives is specifically not
recommended and will increase operating costs.
However, supplementaJ additives are available
that can effectively Ind economically solve
certain specific probh!ms without causing other
difficulties. For example, if higher detergency is
required to reduce varnish and s1udga deposiU
resulting from some unusual operational difficulty,
a thoroughly tested and approved additive "Super
Engine Oil Supplement" -
is ..
ailable at your
Cadillac dealer. In the event of an operational
