Refer to the Galaxy Programming Manual (IP1-0033) for detailed information on the programming of the
Communications option (menu option number 56).

Remote Monitoring via PSTN

If the Galaxy control panel is being monitored remotely via a PC modem and the Galaxy onboard or remote
Telecom options, then the panel requires the following programming details to be entered in the
56=COMMUNICATIONS option:
2. Select 1or5=TELECOMS and press the ent key.
3. Select 1=FORMAT and press the ent key.
i) Select 3=MICROTECH and press the ent key.
ii) Set the STATUS to ON and allocate the GROUPS that require to be monitored, for each of
the 18 TRIGGERS (alarm and event types) to be transmitted to the Event Monitoring PC.
4. Select 2=TEL NO. 1 and press the ent key.
i) Enter the telephone number of the PC modem (up to 22 digits).
5. Select 3=ACCOUNT NO. and press the ent key.
i) Enter the account number of the site (maximum six digits).
6. Select 6=DIAL TYPE and press the ent key.
i) Select Tone or Pulse (default) depending on the telephone exchange. (If the dial type of the
exchange is unknown, then select Pulse.)
Note: if the primary number is required for signalling to central station then option 15=ALARM
MONITORING should be programmed.

Remote Monitoring via the ISDN

If the Galaxy control panel is being monitored remotely via a PC modem and the Galaxy ISDN Module, then
the panel requires the following programming details to be entered in the 56=COMMUNICATIONS option:
1. Select 3=ISDN and press the ent key.
2. Select 01=PRIMARY or 02=SECONDARY and press the ent key.
3. Select 1=TEL NO. 1 and press the ent key.
i)
Enter the telephone number of the PC modem (up to 22 digits).
4. Select 2=ACCOUNT NO. and press the ent key.
i)
Enter the account number of the site (maximum six digits).
5. Select 3=DIAL TYPE and press the ent key
i)
Select either Analogue or Digital depending upon the network
6. Select 4=FORMAT and press the ent key
i)
Select 3=MICROTECH and press the ent key.
ii) Set the STATUS to ON and allocate the GROUPS that require to be monitored, for each of
the 18 TRIGGERS (alarm and event types) to be transmitted to the Event Monitoring PC.
Note: if the primary number is required for signalling to central station then option 10=ALARM
MONITORING should be programmed.
Remote Monitoring via the RS232 option & Modem
If the Galaxy control panel is being monitored remotely via a PC modem and the Galaxy RS232/Modem
configuration, then the panel requires the following programming details to be entered in menu option 56.
1. Select 2 or 6=RS232 and press the ent key.
2. Select 1=MODE and press the ent key
3. Select 2 = MODEM and press the ent key
4. Select 1=TEL NO. 1 and press the ent key.
i)
Enter the telephone number of the PC modem (up to 22 digits).
5. Select 2=ACCOUNT NO. and press the ent key.
i)
Enter the account number of the site (maximum six digits).
6. Press esc and select 2=FORMAT and press the ent key.
i)
Select 2=MICROTECH and press the ent key.
ii) Set the STATUS to ON and allocate the GROUPS that require to be monitored, for each of
the 18 TRIGGERS (alarm and event types) to be transmitted to the Event Monitoring PC.
