PC Requirements

PC — IBM compatible
Processor — Pentium II 400 or higher (for Windows 98) or Pentium II 450 (for Windows NT Service Pack
3/ME/2000/xP)
Memory — 128 MB RAM minimum (for Windows 98) or 256 MB RAM minimum (for Windows NT Service
Pack 3/ME/2000/xP)
Hard Disk — 100 MB minimum
CD-ROM Drive
Operating System — Windows 98/NT Service Pack 3/ME/2000/xP
Interface — 2 serial ports, 1 parallel port
Graphics Adapter — Super VGA or higher resolution
Display — Super VGA or higher resolution (1024x768 minimum screen resolution)
.Mouse — Microsoft Windows compatible

Additional Requirements

For Remote Servicing/Monitoring:

Modem — V.21 or V.22 Hayes compatible (Ethernet card if connecting to an Ethernet Network).
Telephone line.

For On-Site Servicing/Monitoring:

RS232 serial interface cable (see RS232 Instruction Guide for details).

Installing Remote Servicing/User Management Suite

The Remote Servicing and User Management suites are installed automatically from the installation CDs.
Follow the instructions on the screen to install the appropriate applications.
Important: If running Remote Servicing or User Management suites for the first time, all existing Galaxy site
details must be converted to 32-Bit format using the procedure detailed below.

Converting Galaxy Gold/Security Directors Gold V5.xx and V6.xx files

1. Click on the Start button.
2. Select Programs.
3. Select Remote Servicing Suite program group.
4. Select Site conversion.
5. If you have a previous version of Galaxy Gold on your machine, your currently selected directory will be
listed in the box next to the Source button.
6. A list of the sites will appear.
7. Click on the Convert button. This will convert the sites from the file format to a Microsoft Access
database format.
8. Once this is complete, and you have not used Event Monitoring yet, press the Convert Alarm
Monitoring Data button to convert alarm monitoring data.
9. Press Convert Galaxy Gold User Codes if you wish to convert these to use the new program.
Note:
When point 9 (Convert Galaxy Gold User Codes) is operated, the manager attribute for
unlocking sites is disabled. The manager needs to re-enable this to unlock sites.

Copy Protection Device (Dongle) Installation

1. Remove any printer cable connected to the printer port marked LPT1.
2. Insert the male connector of the copy protection device into the printer port LPT1.
3. If a printer requires to be connected to the PC, insert the printer cable into the female connector of the
copy protection device.
Note: For Windows NT/2000/xP platforms, dongle drivers must be installed for correct operation. To install
the drivers, follow the instructions in the Dongle Drivers\Readme.txt file.
Note: If the PC is using Event Monitoring to monitor Galaxy panels, then it is recommended that a second
telephone line and V.21 or V.22 modem (dedicated to the Event Monitoring operations on the PC)
are used to allow Event Monitoring to receive uninterrupted events on the other line and modem.
