Documents for Scanning

Paper Size

The following paper sizes can be scanned:
Maximum size (width × length)
Minimum size (width × length)
*1:Depending on the image scanning application or the scan setting of the scanner driver, the memory may be
insufficient to perform scanning.
To scan documents that are longer than 355.6 mm (14 in.) but are within 863 mm (34 in.), set the
resolution to 300 dpi or lower.
To scan documents longer than 863 mm (34 in.), set the resolution to 200 dpi or lower.

Document Type

The following document types (paper types) are recommended:
● Wood-free paper
● Wood-containing paper
● PPC paper (recycled)
● Plastic card
When scanning a document in a type other than the above, perform a test on the same type of document
(paper) first to check whether it can be scanned.

Paper Weight (Document Thickness)

Documents with the following thickness (paper weight) can be scanned:

● 50 to 209 g/m
(13.4 to 56 lb)
● For A8 size or smaller, 127 to 209 g/m
● 0.76 mm or less for plastic cards (Embossed cards allowed (ISO7810 ID-1 type compliant))

Documents That May Not Be Scanned Successfully

The following types of documents may not be scanned successfully:
● Tracing paper
● Documents that are not square or rectangular
● Very thin paper
● A4 (portrait) (210 × 297 mm/8.3 × 11.7 in.)
● Legal (portrait) (8.5 × 14 in.)
● Long page(*1) (216 × 863 mm/8.5 × 34 in., 210 × 3,048
mm/8.3 × 120 in.)
A8 (52 × 74 mm/2 × 2.9 in.)
