Documents for Scanning

Paper Size

The following paper sizes can be scanned:
Maximum size (width × length) (*1)
Minimum size (width × length)
*1:With the return path opening, you can scan documents with a length of up to 355.6 mm (14 in.).
*2:This can be scanned only when this is loaded in the ADF paper chute (feeder).
*3:Depending on the image scanning application or the scan setting of the scanner driver, the memory may be
insufficient to perform scanning.
Long page scanning supports documents with a length up to 5,588 mm (220 in.) when the resolution is set
to 200 dpi or lower.

Document Type

The following document types (paper types) are recommended:
● Wood-free paper
● Wood-containing paper
● PPC paper (recycled)
● Plastic cards (*1)
● Booklets such as passports (*1)
When scanning a document in a type other than the above, perform a test on the same type of document
(paper) first to check whether it can be scanned.
*1:This can be scanned only when this is inserted into the return path opening.

Document Thickness (Paper Weight)

Documents with the following thickness (paper weight) can be scanned:
● When loading a document in the ADF paper chute (feeder)

- 40 to 127 g/m
(11 to 34 lb)
- For A6 size or smaller, 40 to 209 g/m
- For A8 size or smaller, 127 to 209 g/m
● When inserting a document into the return path opening
● A4 (portrait) (210 × 297 mm)
● Legal (portrait) (8.5 × 14 in.)
● Long page document (*2) (*3) (215.9 × 863 mm/8.5 × 34 in.,
215.9 × 5,588 mm/8.5 × 220 in.)
