Figure 15 Supply module gas flow diagram
5133.001
For safety reasons (risk of explosion), the propellant gas used is AIR. The
propellant gas flows through the non-return valve (30) and the volume (170
mL) to the pressure reducer (71). There the pressure is stabilised at 2.4 bar
relative. The volume acts as a pressure buffer. If the AIR fails, operation of
the DIVA metering module can be maintained for a time.
In the event of an error, if the "dead man's signal" fails the supply valve (24)
of the relevant channel is closed by the DIANA PCB and the pressure on the
downstream line is relieved by way of the pressure relief valve (23) and the
anaesthetic gas scavenging system (3.1). If there is no error, the propellant
gas flows to the inlet of the metering module.
In "Auto" metering mode the anaesthetic flows from the outlet of the metering
module in the form of saturated vapour (100% anaesthetic vapour) through
the saturated vapour valve (2) directly into the breathing system. In "fresh
gas" metering mode the saturated vapour flows through the fresh gas valve
(3) into the mixing chamber (86), where it intermingles with fresh gas and
passes from there into the breathing system.
In the event of an error, if the "dead man's signal" fails the saturated vapour
valve (2) of the relevant channel is closed by the DIANA PCB. The outlet of
the metering module is then vented by way of the relief valve (1) and the
anaesthetic gas scavenging system (3.1). During the system test a check is
made by way of a test valve (63) as to whether that channel is free.
