The process of grouping particular SAN devices by function and then
attaching these devices to particular switches or groups of switches
based on that function.
A Fibre Channel service that allows for the management of all timers.
As applies to Fibre Channel, the configuration of the Fibre Channel
network and the resulting communication paths allowed. There are
three possible topologies:
Point-to-point — A direct link between two communication ports.
Switched fabric — Multiple N_Ports linked to a switch by
F_Ports.
Arbitrated loop — Multiple NL_Ports connected in a loop.
Third-party copy. A protocol for performing tape backups without
using server resources.
Device that converts one form of signaling to another for
transmission and reception. In fiber optics, it refers to optical and
electrical.
A mode in which private devices can communicate with public
devices across the fabric.
A 10-bit character encoded according to the rules of the 8b/10b
algorithm.
A group of four transmission characters.
The message sent by an SNMP agent to inform the SNMP
management station of a critical error. See also SNMP.
In Fibre Channel technology, a feature that enables distribution of
traffic over the combined bandwidth of up to four ISLs between
adjacent switches, while preserving in-order delivery.
A set of up to four trunked ISLs.
The ports in a set of trunked ISLs.
Time Server.
