3.4 Foreseeable cases of misuse

Maico is not liable for damages caused by usage not
for the intended purpose. The fan unit should not
be used:
● if a condensation drain to is needed to the right or
left with an installation position with exhaust socket.
Condensation drain is only guaranteed with an
installation position where the exhaust socket is
directed upwards.
● close to flammable materials, liquids or gasses.
● in potentially explosive atmospheres
● with covered motor (danger of overheating)

5. Environmental conditions and
operating limits
● Permitted max. ambient temperature 50 °C, for
EKR..FU units, max. 40 °C.
● Permitted max. airstream temperature: 120 °C
● When operating with air-ventilated fireplaces,
the maximum permitted pressure difference per
living unit is 4 Pa.

6. Safety instructions

6.1 General

● Read these operating instructions carefully
before mounting and commissioning.
● Assembly and electrical connection may
only be undertaken by trained specialists in
accordance with Chapter 2.
● The unit may only be operated using the vol-
tage and frequency shown on the rating plate.
● The degree of protection stated on the
rating plate is only guaranteed if installation
is undertaken correctly and if the cables are
correctly guided into the terminal box.

● Only connect unit to permanently wired
electrical installations with NYM-O or NYM-J,
(5 x 1.5 mm²) cables. Additionally, a mains
isolation device with contact openings of at
least 3 mm at each pole must be installed.
● Only operate the unit when it is completely
installed.
● Only floor-mount the ventilation box on the
mounting tracks with vibration dampers.
● If there is a heavy build of condensation
on the fan housing, make sure there is
sufficient condensation run-off.
● Service door:
● Only operate the ventilation box when the
service door is closed.
● Disconnect the unit completely from the
power supply before opening the service
door.
● Only open the service door when the
impeller has come to a complete stop.
Wait until the impeller is stationary before
opening.
● The device may only be operated if the
protection against accidental contact with
the impeller is guaranteed to be in accor-
dance with EN ISO 13857. For this purpose,
a ventilation duct at least 1 meter long on
both the exhaust air and outgoing air side
or a protective grille must be installed.
● Ensure a sufficient supply air intake.
● Modifications and alterations to the unit are
not permitted and release the manufacturer
from any guarantee and liability.
6.2 Safe and correct practices during
operation
In the case of incorrect use, there is a direct
risk of injury to operational or cleaning
personnel.
The service door is very heavy. In
order to avoid injuries, always fix
the opened service door in place
with door stoppers [3].
Danger of injury from objects in the
impeller. Do not insert any objects
in the unit.
