2.4 Intended use

● The WS 170 is used as a ventilation unit
with heat recovery system that provides
controlled ventilation of apartments,
offices or comparable rooms.
● The ventilation unit is only intended for
domestic use and similar purposes.
● The ventilation unit is only intended for
permanent installation in buildings. It may
only be fitted on walls with sufficient load-
bearing capacity.
● The ventilation unit may only be used in
line with the calculations/designs carried
out by the Engineering office.
● The RLS D1 WR digital room air control
should be mounted at a height of approx.
1.5 m, in order to guarantee safe opera-
tion of the system.

2.5 Foreseeable cases of misuse

Maico is not liable for damages caused by
use contrary to the intended purpose. Under
no circumstances should the unit be
used:
● during the building phase.
● in high levels of dust.
● close to flammable materials, liquids or
gases.
● to convey chemicals, aggressive gases
or vapours.
● in potentially explosive atmospheres.
● in swimming pools
● to dry out new buildings.
● in combination with laboratory extractors.
● in combination with extractor hoods that
are connected directly to the controlled
domestic ventilation exhaust air channel.
For energy-usage reasons, we
recommend using extractor hoods in
circulating air mode.

3. Safety instructions

3.1 General

● Installation and electrical
connection may only be
undertaken by electricians in
accordance with chapter 1.
● The ventilation unit may only
be started up if installed
correctly in accordance with
these installation instructions.
● After installation, instruct
users of the ventilation unit
and room air control.
● When you open the front
cover, a safety circuit breaker
(door contact switch) switches
the fans off. In comfort and
bypass units, the frost
protection heating register
also switches off. The bypass
in bypass units closes.
● Switch the ventilation unit off
immediately if you discover
damage or faults that could
endanger persons or
property. Make sure the unit
cannot be switched back on
until it has been fully repaired.
● Modifications and alterations
to the ventilation unit are not
permitted and release the
manufacturer from any
guarantee obligations and
liability.
