If the target under track is temporarily obscured by passing under a
bridge or behind a tree, for example, the tracker will coast at the same
speed for 2 seconds and automatically re- acquire the target when it
emerges. Should it not emerge within this coast period, the system will
break lock (lock on its current position) and the target must be reacquired
manually.
If the operator selects the alternate sensor or the 1.8X extender during
track, there is a high probability of breaking lock, as this action will
confuse the tracker.

Centroid Black Mode (CENT BLK)

This Centroid Black mode is used for tracking moving targets (bounded),
which are darker than the background. The tracker does not recognize
color, only contrast, so this mode is best for:
Hot targets when in IR black-hot polarity
Cold targets when in IR white-hot polarity
Dark colored targets when in Color CCD
All other performance characteristics are the same as Centroid White.

Correlation Mode (CORR)

Unlike PCORR, SCENE and CENT STA modes, this mode is an area

interest is only that contained within the tracking window (bounded).
This mode is good for tracking slow moving or still targets in an
uncluttered area. Many operators prefer to use this mode with the CCD
camera. It is important to note that in this mode, a lost target stays lost
(must be reacquired). This is because the tracker is constantly adjusting
to the objects within the track window and will adjust rapidly to a bridge
or a tree, which has momentarily obstructed the target and has
interpreted this as the new target.

Using the Auto-Tracker

Ensure that the symbology is fully displayed. Next, make a judgment
about the proper tracker mode for the target of interest. Toggle through
these modes with the MODE Switch until the correct tracker mode is
displayed on the bottom right of the video display. In all but SCENE, a
track window will be displayed on the center of the display.
