5.2 Application
CAUTION
Incorrect or excessively tight application
Risk of local pressure and constriction of blood vessels and nerves due to
improper or excessively tight application
► Ensure that the orthosis is applied properly and fits correctly.
CAUTION
Improper moulding or application
Injuries or damage to the orthosis due to overloading of the material and
improper fit of the orthosis due to breakage of load-bearing components
► Do not make any improper changes to the orthosis.
► Always apply the orthosis according to the information in the instruc­
tions.
NOTICE
Mechanical overload
Impaired functionality due to mechanical damage
► Check the product for damage prior to each use.
► Do not use the product if its functionality has been impaired.
► Take any necessary measures (e.g. repair, replacement, inspection by
the manufacturer's customer service, etc.).
Applying the orthosis with a shoe
>
Closed shoes are used.
1) Put on the orthosis together with the shoe. Ensure that the short side of
the orthosis is located at the instep (see fig. 2).
2) Move the foot slightly towards the back. This will cause the orthosis to
move slightly in the direction of the tibia.
3) Fasten the calf straps to the medial or lateral side (see fig. 3). Fasten the
upper calf strap to the proximal side.
4) Pass the calf strap around the calf and fasten it (see fig. 4).
Applying the orthosis without a shoe
1) Place the orthosis against the foot. Ensure that the short side is located
at the instep (see fig. 5).
2) Fasten the foot strap to the orthosis.
3) Pass the foot strap around the foot.
