Rear fog light indicator
light (if equipped)
This indicator light illuminates while the
rear fog light is illuminated.

Fuel filter warning light
(diesel engine models)
This warning light illuminates when the
amount of accumulated water in the fuel
filter has reached the specified level. If this
warning light illuminates, we recommend
that you have your vehicle checked at a
SUBARU dealer as soon as possible.
CAUTION
Never drive the vehicle when the
warning light is illuminated. Conti-
nuing to drive while water has
accumulated in the fuel filter will
damage the fuel injection pump.

light (diesel engine
models)
The preheating indicator light illuminates
when the ignition switch is turned to the
ON position and turns off after the
engine has sufficiently preheated (a few
seconds later).

NOTE
. When the weather is cold outside,
the preheating indicator light remains

preheating indicator light has turned
off.

Diesel particulate filter
warning light
(diesel engine models)
! When diesel particulate filter warn-
ing light illuminates
The diesel particulate filter warning light
illuminates when the filter is not able to
automatically burn the soot and the
accumulated particulate matter exceeds
the specified limit.
When the diesel particulate filter warning
light illuminates, drive the vehicle under
the following conditions after the engine
has been warmed up completely.
. Engine speed: 1,800 to 2,500 rpm
. Vehicle speed: 60 km/h (37 mph) or
faster is preferred.
. Driving time for burn treatment: 15
minutes or more
NOTE
. Do not accelerate rapidly. Accelerate
the vehicle according to the upshift
timing shown in the gear shift indicator
or the shift-up indicator light. During
regeneration of the diesel particulate
filter, the gear shift indicator/shift-up
indicator will prompt the driver to
accelerate to the engine speed neces-
sary for regeneration.
– For details about the gear shift
indicator, refer to "Gear shift indi-
cator" F3-35.
– For details about the shift-up
indicator light, refer to "Shift-up
indicator light (MT models without
gear shift indicator)" F3-34.
. If it is difficult to maintain all these
conditions, maintaining at least the
specified engine speed will have some
effect for burning soot.
Driving under these conditions will in-
crease the inside temperature of the filter
and burn the accumulated soot to elim-
inate it. The warning light turns off when
the soot is eliminated.
