ActiveScale™ X100 Installation Guide
important if you purchased multiple systems for an initial install. Systems that
have been running for some time may report a lowered data safety after a scale
out. You must resolve any data safety issues before attempting to scale out. If the
data safety of the system is not optimal or there are failed drives, fix the issues by
replacing the drives before starting this procedure.
Warning: Components in the new system might have newer firmware than your
existing components have. This procedure does not upgrade or downgrade any
firmware.
Warning: Do not start a log collection job while a scale out job is running.
1. Start the scale out wizard.
Important: On multi-site deployments, start this wizard from any one site. You
only need to run it at one site.
a. In ActiveScale SM click Configuration > Upgrade.
b. In the System Expansion section, scroll down to Scale Out.
c. Click Start.

The scale out wizard starts. ActiveScale OS disables the DHCP server on the System Nodes and scans
for the new system's link local IP addresses.
A pop-up appears with results of system scan:
