The USB 3.0 Micro-B connector is basically a USB 2.0 Micro-B connector with an extension holding 5 extra pins. The port on the My Book 3.0 is designed for this connector. You can also use a USB 2.0 cable with the My Book 3.0, but the drive will only operate at USB 2.0 speeds.
