1. Overview

The DSC-60 functions as ;
- Class-A MF or MF/HF DSC terminal
- MF or MF/HF DSC watch keeping receiver *
- MF/HF DSC general watch keeping receiver (Option) *
- Remote control unit of MF/HF radiotelephone and intercomm (Handset is optional.)
Power supply, which operates within +30% and -10% of rated 24V DC, is equipped with overvoltage
and over-current protectors, and uses a self-resetting polymer switch instead of fuse and breaker. A
rectifier (PR-300: Optional) is required for AC power supply.
Optional printer PP-510 can print all sent and received messages, communication log, registered files,
and results of daily test.
When an MF/HF radiotelephone which supports IEC-61162-1 command in addition to MIF command
is connected, remote control is enabled from DSC-60.

With the DSC general watch keeping receiver board, communication by radiotelephone and NBDP is
enabled by the MF/HF radiotelephone while watching DSC distress, safety and general frequencies.
If DSC general watch keeping receiver board is not insallted, DSC general frequency is watched by
the MF/HF radiotelephone, and it cannot be watched during communication by radiotelephone and
NBDP.
The DSC-60 satisfies MSC.68(68) revised by RESOLUTION A. 806(19) :
- Contents of received call displayed on two or more lines in 160 or more characters.
- Automatic updating of own ship position and time from navigational equipment.
- Manual input of own ship position and time.
- Alarm generated when there is no data received from navigational equipment and no
manual position updating for more than 4 hours.
- Clear position data when it is not updated longer than 23.5 hours.
- These messages should be stored until readout and should be erased 48 hours after their
reception.
