VS-3 As Scrolling Input Selector (cont.)
Audio Option 4 - Rooms with a projector (or monitor) that are also home theaters using the
SSD-66 (THX)
In home theaters with a projector, the projector (or monitor) is only providing video. The VS-
3's composite video output for that room will need to be sent directly to the projector. The VS-
3's audio output for that room will need to be sent directly to the decoder and amplifier's
location, be it at the mainframe or in the home theater room. Again, an ACC-3 is used to turn
on the home theater amplifier and decoder (illustration is incorrect as the SSD-66 should also
plug into the ACC-3), and an LLS-2 is used to override the music sources fixed line level audio
signal to the audio output of the VS-3. In most cases the projector does not provide any
switching or triggering. An LVI-3800 is used to track the source selection to this room and it
will provide a low voltage signal whenever this room selects the video button on the keypad.
This low voltage signal will automatically trip the LLS-2 Line Level Switcher over to the output
of the VS-3. Furthermore, if the projector or monitor are capable of being turned on with either
a low voltage trigger or hard AC contact (they will turn on when they are plugged in), they too
can automatically turn on when the video button is pressed for complete theater automation.
If the projector does not have a low voltage on trigger but can be turned on when it is plugged
in, an ACC-3 can be used to turn on the projector or monitor and will be located near the
projector (or monitor). If the decoder and amp are located at the system mainframe, only
composite video (to the projector), low voltage wire (to the projector's ACC-3), and speaker
wire (6 channel {includes sub}) need to be run from the mainframe to the remote room. If the
amp and decoder are located in the theater, composite video (to the projector), low voltage wire
(to the projector's ACC-3), low voltage wire (to the home theater equipment), ADA Bus™ cable
(to the equipment), and stereo line-level audio (to the equipment) need to be run from the
mainframe. Since the projector or monitor do not have a built-in TV tuner, the use of a cable
box or ADA TV tuner can be used.
