Delta-88 Main AC Connections (cont.)
Option 8 - One Delta-88 at MainFrame, One PCT-8 Remotely Located, No ACC-3000
Some system layouts will base the Delta-88(s) in a utility
closet or basement while the sources are located at some
distance from the mainframe. When several sources are
grouped in a remote location together, it will be benefi-
cial to situate the PCT-8 with the sources. This does not
pose a problem but you will need to run an ADA Bus™
cable, a two conductor low voltage wire for turning the
PCT-8 on/off with the system, and addi-
tional low voltage wires to turn the sources
on and off (remote source AC switching
should be done using ACC-3000 or ACC-3
discussed in the up coming sections). When
just focusing on the PCT-8, it is important to
remember that it will need to be switched on
and off with the Delta-88 in order to re-boot
the system. You will therefore need an ACC-3 Low Voltage Controlled AC Outlet which can
cut power to the PCT-8 when the Delta-88 is turned off. Since it is easier to run long low voltage
cables than high voltage cables, a simple two conductor wire can be used to trigger the ACC-
3 (and in turn the PCT-8) from a 3-24 Volt AC or DC transformer (the ACC-3 accepts a wide
range input trigger) plugged into the Delta-88's Switched AC Outlet. When using several
Delta-88's, this transformer would plug into the last Delta-88 or an available outlet on an RPS-
1. When connecting to a Delta-88's Switched AC outlet, you will need to use a special male EIC
to female standard AC connector.
Option 9 - One Delta-88 at MainFrame, One PCT-8 & ACC-3000 Remotely Located
In this example, the ACC-3000 is included for source
AC switching, and as in the above option, can be
located along with the PCT-8 and source equip-
ment. However, unlike previous options using an
ACC-3000 (where the ACC-3000's power switch
provided the master reset), the master reset switch
in a remote source scenario goes back to the main
Delta-88's Main Power Switch. Again, as in the
previous option, an ACC-3 is used to provide
switched AC power the ACC-3000. The PCT-8 is
plugged into the ACC-3000's Switched "B" outlet
which will allow you to reset only the PCT-8 from
the source location as this sometimes is
helpful while programming the PCT-8.
Usually, the ACC-3000's power switch will
always be left on. Again, since program-
ming the system is done from the primary
Delta-88, the switch which re-boots the
system should also be on the Delta-88.
