Source AC Control Connections (cont.)
For sources located in remote rooms away from the central mainframe or ACC-3000.
The Delta System permits sources that are located throughout the house to be included into the
central system such that these sources can be accessed from any room in the house. This design
option is ideal for including sources located in master bedrooms, childrens' bedrooms, studies,
etc. When the user selects a remote source from the room's keypad, or any other keypad for
that matter, the source will also get AC. Assuming you are using sources with timer-play, the
source will automatically begin playing for complete one-button operation. Please note, if the
local source is a VCR or any other component which requires constant AC (for powering clocks,
etc.), an ACC-3 should not be used since that source will need to be plugged in continuously.
In order to provide automatic AC control for local sources, an ACC-3 is used as the local AC
switcher. The ACC-3 should be located near the source component and the source plugs into
the ACC-3 while the ACC-3 is connected to a wall AC outlet. The ACC-3 will receive a low
voltage signal via a two conductor wire whenever that source is selected. In addition to the low
voltage wire run to the local source's ACC-3 from the mainframe (or ACC-3000 location if other
than the mainframe), a two conductor shielded cable will need to be run to the source from the
PCT-8 for source transport control and IR repeating (optional). The last cable needed will be
for sending the local source's line level audio signal back to the mainframe.
The low voltage signal can be derived from one of three source switching options. For
transmitting the local source's line level audio back to the system mainframe, three options
exist. The following diagrams detail the AC and line-level options. Please note, these options
are interchangeable, in that, any AC switching option can be used with any line-level audio
option.
AC Option A - When using an ACC-48 to engage power
to sources, a transformer plugged into the ACC-48 will
convert high voltage to low voltage to trigger the source's
ACC-3. Remember, depending on how you are using the
ACC-48, the local source may turn on simultaneously
with all other sources. If the ACC-48 is used for indepen-
dent source AC switching, the local source can be set to
engage only as needed.
Line Level Option A - You can run the line-level audio
signal directly back to the system mainframe. If the
distances are short and/or you are using a quality audio
cable and you are not running the wire past high-voltage
lines or devices, you may not end up inducing ground-
loop hums onto the audio line. This option does not
require any line conditioning devices and will work fine
as long as you don't experience hums on the local audio
source's output.
