of cells (see 4.1).
6. After hearing the cell count, push the button on
the KOLIBRI (on the shrinking tube versions you
can find the button on the back, near to the
sensor slot), then you will hear three descending
tones and the mode.
7. KOLIBRI starts monitoring the modes, for each
mode there is the equal number of single beeps,
the LED flashes in correspondence with the
beep number.
8. After 3 single beeps mode 3 is reached, slide the
gas channel to full throttle position (100%).
9. The LED lights and the ESC confirms first the
throttle position with an ascending triad of
sounds, then the mode with 3 single beeps.
Before disconnecting the battery from the
ESC, it's essential to await the confirmation
(step 8), otherwise the KOLIBRI sees an

incomplete programming and will lock
preventing any potential issues by this and
will flash 9 times to indicate the mode
programming has not been accepted!

7.4 Mode 4 - Helicopter mode

KOLIBRI RPM pre selection
The heli mode operates with real RPM control
(governor). The motor RPM speed is kept constant
as long as the performance of the battery and
motor are sufficient. The ESC stores all parameters
of the program, such as the ratio of selected RPM
and the head speed at every battery change
(performance adjustments are made for each
different battery).

programming unit,

performance based upon the first battery used for
the first flight after programming. After this first

packs with different cell counts. So with the
governor store function it is not possible e.g. to
program the ESC with 4 cells and then fly with 6
cells.

mode 4 must be reprogrammed when
governor store is activated!
Autorotation (bail out) is an integral part of mode 4.
It cannot be selectively programmed with or without
AR. The bail out function can be disabled by throttle
hold (see picture above).

Smooth start is at 12 s on default, but can be
adjusted with the programming unit form 8 to 60 s.
Also, the BEC voltage is adjustable via the
programming unit from 5 V up to 9 V in 0.1 V steps
(see 4.3).
Preparing the transmitter:
Using a flight mode switch, you may choose
among several different head speeds. In each
mode, you may set a different straight line throttle

The KOLIBRI should not be used with a

throttle value higher than 80 % in Heli Mode,
as it needs at least 20 % head room for
proper governing.
For the AR (bail out) (mode 4 only), throttle hold
must be set to 25%. By setting this value the AR
function is activated automatically, no further
settings are necessary for using AR in mode 4. For
further information of transmitter programming,
please see the transmitter's manual.

It is recommended to set the AR-on-position to
