5.2.3 Configure the Network / Operation Mode

The WAN is the external network interface and by default is always set to LTE. Follow the steps below
to configure the network mode between the UE and the WAN.
1. In the CAT4 GUI go to Network > WAN Settings, and in the CAT6/7 GUI go to the Settings tab
and then select WAN Settings > Operation Mode (Figure 10).
For Network Mode or Operation Mode, Baicells recommends using either Network Address
Translation (NAT) or Bridge mode according to your LTE network setup. NAT is the default
mode and allows multiple hosts on a private network to access the internet using a single
public IP address. Selecting Bridge mode disables NAT and allows the UE to function as a DHCP
server without IP address conflict.
Optionally, in CAT6/7 you have two other choices, Router mode and Tunnel mode. Baicells
does not recommend using Router mode. The Tunnel mode may be used if, for example, you
want the UE to connect to a business's Virtual Private Network (VPN). If you select this mode,
additional fields will display for configuring the tunnel information (Figure 11). Tunnel mode
supports L2TP or GRE methods.
2. Click on SAVE/APPLY to complete the configuration.
NOTE: Changing the mode requires rebooting the UE for the change to take effect.
