5.2 Connecting the fieldbus
Fieldbus connections are designed for CAN networks whose pin
assignment conforms to the CANopen standard. The IN con-
nection (plug) acts as the input and the OUT connection
(socket) extends the fieldbus line. The illustration below shows
the pin assignment for the fieldbus interface.
All pins connect through from IN to OUT.
The pins 2, 3 and 7 are linked by the 5-pole round connector M9.
! Pin 2: CAN-L
Pin 3: GND
If the Powerbox is at the end of the fieldbus, a terminating re-
sistor (normally 120 Ohm, 0.25 Watt) is to be fitted between
CAN-L and CAN-H in the plug of the outgoing fieldbus line.
Recommendation: Use the following series D subminiature plug
and socket housings to ensure IP65 protection class:
- socket housing type SD-SUB-BU9-GS-9
- plug housing type S-SUB-9-GS-9
(supplied with terminating resistor for use if required).
