5.2 Switching the Server ON/OFF

CAUTION!
If after switching ON the server there is nothing but flickering stripes on
the screen, switch the server OFF immediately (see chapter "Problem
Solutions and Tips" on page 51).
The ON/OFF button does not disconnect the server from the mains
voltage. To completely disconnect it from the mains voltage, remove the
power plug from the socket (it still takes 4s for ACPI to shutdown
completely).
Switching the server ON
– First system installation:
Ê Insert the ServerStart-CD and/or an installation disk in the corresponding
drive.
Ê Press the ON/OFF button (position 7 in figure 15 on page 41).
Ê Follow the instructions on the monitor (see also section "Configuration
with ServerStart" on page 48 and/or section "Configuration without
ServerStart" on page 48).
– System already installed:
Ê Press the ON/OFF button (position 7 in figure 15 on page 41).
The server is switched ON, performs a system test and boots the
operating system.
Switching the server OFF
Power-on indicator (position 6 on figure 15 on page 41) lights up green.
Ê Shut down the operating in an orderly manner.
The power-on indicator (position 6 on figure 15 on page 41) lights up amber.
Ê Press the ON/OFF button (position 7 in figure 15 on page 41) and/or send a
corresponding controlling signal (see Other ON/OFF possibilities).
The server switches OFF.
