8 . Disable WINS Resolution as follows:
- Windows 95, 98, and Me: Click the WINS Configuration tab. Verify that the Disable
WINS Resolution radio button is selected.
- Windows NT: Click the WINS Address tab.
• If any IP addresses appear for the Primary and Secondary WINS servers, make a note of
them in case you need to restore them later.
• Clear each server entry.
• Clear the checkbox for Enable DNS for WINS Resolution .
9 . Click OK twice to accept the address information and close the Network dialog box.
10 . Reboot the system if directed to do so.

Disable proxies in browser

If you are connecting a laptop directly to the Services Ethernet interface on the S8300 Media Server
faceplate, you must disable proxies as described below.

To check or change proxy settings:

Open your Internet browser.
Verify that you have a direct connection with no proxies as follows:

• Internet Explorer
a . Select Tools > Internet Options .
b . Click the Connections tab
c . Click the LAN Settings button.
d . Deselect proxy server if selected, and click OK .
e . Click OK again to close the Internet Options dialog box.
• Netscape
a . Select Edit > Preferences .
b . Under Category, click Advanced .
c . Click Proxies .
d . Make sure Direct connection to the Internet is selected.
e . Click OK .

You may not have to disable using a proxy server if you instruct your browser
to not use the proxy server when accessing address 192.11.13.6 from a
directly connected laptop. Otherwise, you need to remember to turn proxy
usage on or off as needed.
