The functions in relation to the USB stick are also available to you via a con-
text menu by right-clicking on the entry of a terminal.
Add new terminal
If the VDO TerminalTools find a new device which was connected via net-
work or USB cable, you will be prompted if you want to create the VDO
SmartTerminal.
If you choose [Yes], creating and configuring also follows the procedure de-
scribed below.
To create and configure a new terminal, proceed as follows:
1. Click onto New Terminal.
A dialog is opened in which you must first determine a unique designation for
the VDO SmartTerminal.
2. Enter the unique designation for the VDO SmartTerminal in the entry field.

In order to transfer a new software version onto a VDO
SmartTerminal, you can either perform this via the per-
manent connection or you load the update onto a USB
stick. Regardless of whether the VDO SmartTerminal
runs in the network, on a USB cable or in standalone
mode, it can receive an update via USB stick at any
time.
This function allows you to create a USB stick to reset a
terminal back to factory settings. Please note that after-
wards, all data on the terminal have been deleted.
