2 G700 Media Gateway: Initial Network Set-Up

Initial Network Set-Up

The Avaya S8300 Media Server with an Avaya G700 Media Gateway integrates into the customer's Local
Area Network. You will need to establish IP identities for several components of the S8300 Media Server
with a G700 Media Gateway:
• The Avaya P330 stack processor
• The G700 Media Gateway processor
• Voice over IP module capability of the G700 processor
• Any other Voice over IP media module
• The S8300 Media Server, if present
!
CAUTION:
These IP addresses must be exactly correct. If not, you could disrupt the customer's data
network. Contact your LAN administrator to be sure you have the right addresses and do not
proceed until you have verified the IP addresses are correct.
These primary IP addresses must be entered into the system manually, or statically, at installation. In
addition, routing information and other types of IP identification must be established for some entities.
These IP addresses will be determined by the network manager, recorded on the planning documentation,
and entered manually at installation. Follow the instructions in the Server Chapter for setting up the network
with an S8300 Media Server ("Network Setup with an Avaya S8300 Media Server") or with an External
Media Server.
