2. On input (in common mode), the unit has protection agains overloading peaks of 5 kV (impulses of 8/20 μs). If
greater disturbance is expected, additional protection must be used.
3. The minimum insulation distances have been provided for pollution of Contamination Grade 2, in accordance with
HD 625.1 S1 (IEC 664-1 mod.). For highly contaminated environments (with conductive particles) or frequent
damp, additional protection must be provided.
4. The safety level of the input circuit of an INVERTER is that of the Telecommunication Network Voltage Circuit. That
is, the input has the required insulation characteristics to be able to connect to a Telecommunication Network in
accordance with the referred standard EN 41003. It must be made sure that the rest of the installation connected
to this input (accumulator battery line) also fulfils these requirements if conformity is to be maintained.
As regards conducted or radiated emissions, the supply and exterior connections to the INVERTER will be decisive for
fulfilling the requirements demanded by the standard. It must be attempted to use short connections, separating as
far as possible the input lines from the outptu. The ground may be a conflictive point if it presents excessive
impedance to radio frequencies.
In installation where there are audio-frequency units supplied by the same battery of accumulators as that used for
the INVERTER, the unit might be affected by intermodulation phenomena at the frequency of the input harmonics
of the INVERTER(100 Hz and multiples). Such interference is not regulated by C.E.M. regulations, by must be
elimated for correct service by means of two different actions:
• On the installation: It is necessary to avoid audio-frequency equipment supplied by the same battery of accumulators
as that used for the INVERTER and to susceptible critical units (falls in voltage caused by harmonics must not enter
the supply of critical units).
• In the INVERTER: The provision of an input harmonic filter quill notably reduce the disturbing harmonic currents.
However, without the first action, it is possible that there quill still be residual interference. The result depends, to
a large extent, on the susceptibility of the audio untis and the common impedance of the supply lines.
The following installation regulations must be taken into account:
1. On the DC input:
1.1. DC input filter.
Unless the input source consists of a battery of accumulators installed in the same metal cabinet as the
INVERTER, it will generally be necessary to install the DC Input RF Filter to maintain the demand of radio-
frequency emission within the limits demanded by the standard:
The radiation is maintained within the limits demanded by the standard.
Other units supplied by the same battery are immune to the emission of the INVERTER.
1.2. On the output.
When the input source of the INVERTER is high impedance and common to other units (spº ecially linear
audio-frequency amplifiers), it might cause intermodulations of 100 Hz and its multiple pairs, because the
input current of the INVERTER hs such components. To correct this phenomenon, it way be additionally
necessary to install a DC Input Harmonic Filter.
