As the I/Os in the PLC memory are gapless imaged some principles have
to be considered while programming the inputs and outputs. The PLC
always requires 4 bytes in the input area for the diagnostic double word.
The diagnostic double word permits an exact diagnosis of the connected
modules (see 6.5 RecoBus Diagnosis). Thus, the first input module is
imaged as of byte position 4. The output modules are imaged in the
output area of the PLC as of byte position 0. During the assembly of the
module carriers it is possible to leave gaps, so that modules can be fitted
later. For this, modifications in the PLC program in the declaration or the
I/O editor have to be made, as the additional module inserted in a gap
displaces the starting address of the following modules by the data width
of the plugged-in module.
