2.1 Safety definitions

Warnings, cautions and notes are used to point out
specially important parts of the manual.
WARNING: Used if there is a risk of injury or
death for the operator or bystanders if the
instructions in the manual are not obeyed.
CAUTION: Used if there is a risk of damage to
the product, other materials or the adjacent area
if the instructions in the manual are not obeyed.
Note: Used to give more information that is necessary in
a given situation.

2.2 General safety instructions

WARNING: Read the warning instructions that
follow before you use the product.
WARNING: Do not use accessories that are not
approved by the manufacturer. Do not do
changes that are not approved by the
manufacturer. This can cause injury or death to
the operator or other persons.
WARNING: Always use original spare parts and
accessories.
WARNING: Use approved hearing protection.
Noise from the product can result in permanent
hearing loss.
The service center that repairs the product must have
safety devices that obey local regulations.
The ignition cable must always be removed from the
spark plug before doing servicing, cleaning or repair
work. If the ignition cable is not removed there is a risk
that the engine starts.
When doing repair work or cleaning with the product put
on the side, the muffler must be below the engine.
Risk of fire:
The engine is a four stroke engine and must always
run on unleaded gasoline.
Handle fuel carefully, it is flammable.
Do not refuel when the engine is on.
Do not smoke and make sure there are no flames or
sparks near the product.
Do not start the engine if the product has a fuel leak
or if there is spilled fuel.
Make sure there are fire extinguishers near.
Do not try to extinguish a gasoline fire with water.

Poisonous fumes:
When using cleaning fluids read the manual
carefully.
Make sure there is correct airflow when handeling
fuel.
The exhaust fumes of the engine are poisonous.
Test run the engine outdoors.
Special tools:
For some procedures in this workshop manual it is
necessary to use special tools. Refer to
tools on page 12 .
Use the special tools to prevent injury and damage
to parts.
Sealing surfaces and gaskets:
Make sure all sealing surfaces are clean and free
from remaining parts of the sealing.
Make sure not to do damage to the sealing when
cleaning it.
Remove scratches and ridges using a small single
cut file.
Sealing rings:
Always replace disassembled sealings. The sealing
area must be not damaged.
Make sure the sealing ring is correctly alinged.

2.3 Special safety instructions

When you use compressed air,do not point the air jet in
the direction of your body. Air can go into the blood
circulation and kill you.Use eye protection when you do
work on springs that have tension.
WARNING: Do not start the engine if the blade
or other parts are not attached or do not work
correctly.
WARNING: Do not touch hot components as
the muffler. Wait until it is cool to prevent burns.
WARNING: Do not get fuel or oil on your skin or
in your mouth. Contact with engine oil and
gasoline can do damage to your health.
WARNING: Do not start the engine indoors.The
exhaustfumes of the engine are poisonous.
WARNING: Clean up oil on thefloor immediately
to prevent accidents.
CAUTION: The product must not be turned
upside down when the engine is filled with oil.
The oil can come into the carburettor and result
in starting problems.
