The 4U106 is designed for use with a full load of drives; however, it may also be partially populated. Gray-colored
drive slots above indicate minimum drive module placement for power and cooling reasons. These slots should be
populated in all cases.
Populating drive slots
The Exos E 4U106 does not ship with pre-installed drive modules. When installing drive modules, be mindful of
the slot numbering shown in
Figure
11. The following rules apply when populating the 4U106 with drives
possessing 12 watts maximum drive operating power per slot.

Figure
11.
