Tone

Bass / Treble
To compensate for adverse influences on reproduction quality caused by your listening room, or imperfect
loudspeaker positioning, the integrated amplifier is fitted with an active, infinitely variable tone control
system.
• When the tone controls are at centre, the frequency response is linear.
• Rotating the controls clockwise increases the bass or treble.
• Rotating the controls anti-clockwise reduces the bass or treble.
The tone control can be switched off by pressing the
of the full amplifier completely. The frequency is then absolutely linear.
Loudness
The integrated amplifier is equipped with a volume-dependent tone control (LOUDNESS) circuit, which
compensates for the frequency-dependent sensitivity of the human ear at very low volume levels, due to
the characteristics of aural physiology..
A long press of the TONE/LOUDN button on the frontpanel of the PA 1100 E or the
switches the loudness function on or off.

Balance

The balance control enables you to vary the level between left and right channels, e.g. to cope with asym-
metric speaker locations.
To avoid any adverse effect on the sound, the balance range is limited to +0,6 dB / -8,0 dB. It is never desi-
rable to reduce the volume of one stereo channel to zero.
• The level of amplification is the same on both channels when the control is at the centre position.
• Rotating the control clockwise offsets the stereo centre to the right.
• Rotating the control anti-clockwise offsets the stereo centre to the left.

Oversampling

Two different oversampling types are available for the playback of PCM coded data via the digital inputs
S/P-DIF 1 and 2, OPT1 and OPT2 or the USB input.
• OVS 1 (LED red): Oversampling 1 is a classic FIR filter with an extremely linear frequency response.
• OVS 2 (LED blue): Oversampling 2 is a pure Bezier interpolator – offering perfect "timing" and dynamics..
The oversampling type can be selected by pressing the OVS button on the PA 1100 E. If necessary, press
the button twice to select the desired oversampling type. The currently set oversampling type is indicated
by the LED above the OVS button.
The oversampling type can only be set for playback of PCM encoded data.

the LED is switched off.
