TROUBLESHOOTING—
INTRODUCTION
The information contained in the Troubleshooting
Guide has been compiled from field report data and
factory experience. It contains symptoms and usual
causes for the described problems. However, DO
NOT assume that these are the only problems that
may occur. All available data concerning a problem
should
be
systematically
undertaking any repairs or component replacement
procedures.

A detailed visual inspection is worth performing for
almost all problems and may avoid unnecessary
additional damage to the compressor. Always
remember to:
1. Check for loose wiring.
2. Check for damaged piping.
3. Check for parts damaged by heat or an elec-
trical short circuit, usually apparent by discol-
oration or a burnt odor.
Should your problem persist after making the
recommended check, consult your nearest Sullair
representative.
REMEDY
Close switch.
Replace fuse.
Reset. Should trouble persist, check
whether motor starter contacts are
functioning properly.
Check voltage. Should voltage check low,
consult power company.
Switch any two phases of incoming power and reset
monitor
Look for shorts or open circuits on control circuit, repair
and reset protector. If none found, ground fault protector
could require replacement.
Replace Fuse
Check incoming power connections and reset monitor.
Check control fuses and wiring. Consult power company.
Cooling air flow restricted; clean cooler and check for
proper ventilation.
Ambient temperature is too high - provide sufficient
ventilation.
Low fluid level, add fluid
Clogged filter, change fluid filter element
Thermal valve not functioning properly; replace element
Defective discharge temperature switch; check for a
short or open circuit. If none, replace switch
Cooling fan is being operated in REVERSE direction.
Turn switch to FORWARD
Check incoming power connections and reset monitor.
