Appendix 3 24 VAC Wire Gauge and Transmission Distance
The following table describes the recommended maximum distance adopted for a specific wire gauge
when the 24 VAC voltage loss rate is less than 10 percent. For an AC-driven device, the maximum allowed
voltage loss rate is 10 percent. For example, for a device with a rating power of 80 VA, which is installed at
a distance of 35 feet (10 m) away from the transformer, 0.8000 mm is required as the minimum wire gauge.
