1. Turn the fuel supply valve (if equipped) to the OFF
position.
2. Place a suitable container under the primary fuel
filter assembly (1). Clean the outside of the
primary fuel filter assembly (1).
3. Remove the drain plug (2). Allow the fluid to drain
into the container.
4. Remove the primary fuel filter assembly (1) from
the fuel filter base. Remove the O-ring. Discard
the O-ring. Remove the primary fuel filter element
from the primary fuel filter housing.
5. Clean the contact face of the fuel filter base with
clean engine oil.
6. Install a new primary fuel filter element to the
primary fuel filter housing. Install a new O-ring seal
to the primary fuel filter housing. Install the primary
fuel filter assembly (1) to the fuel filter base.
Tighten the primary fuel filter assembly (1) to a
torque of 80 N·m (59 lb ft).
7. Install a new O-ring to the drain plug (2).
8. Install the drain plug (2) to the primary fuel filter
assembly (1).
9. Remove the container and dispose of the fuel
safely.
10. Turn the fuel supply valve (if equipped) to the ON
position.
11. Prime the fuel system. Refer to the Operation and
Maintenance Manual, "Fuel System - Prime" for
more information.
Fuel System Secondary Filter -
Replace
Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electri-
cal components can cause a fire. To help prevent
possible injury, turn the start switch off when
changing fuel filters or water separator elements.
Clean up fuel spills immediately.
Do not allow dirt to enter the fuel system. Thoroughly
clean the area around a fuel system component that
will be disconnected. Fit a suitable cover over discon-
nected fuel system component.
Turn the valves for the fuel lines (if equipped) to the

OFF position before performing this maintenance.
Place a tray under the fuel filter in order to catch any
fuel that might spill. Clean up any spilled fuel
immediately.
1. Close the valves for the fuel lines (if equipped).

2. Clean the outside of the secondary fuel filter
assembly (1). Open the drain plug (2) and drain
the fuel into a suitable container.
3. Remove the O-ring from the drain plug (2). Discard
the O-ring.
4. Remove the secondary fuel filter assembly (1)
from the fuel filter base.
