2.10 Customizing the Print Driver Setup

While your NeuraLabel 500e is primarily a continuous form printer, it does have the ability to print
cut sheets. If you want to use the printer in this way there are two options. The second option is
recommended.
(1) Install the print driver as is. For individual print jobs from standard Windows applications,
configure the panels to print cut sheets.
(2) Install a second instance of the print driver. Set up the printing preferences/defaults on
this instance to be cut sheet. For example name the printers NeuraPrinter-Continuous
and NeuraPrinter-CutSheet in the driver installation.
Likewise if you want to set up your printer to efficiently print in black and white mode, you can
also install another copy of the print driver and set its defaults to BW only mode. Give it a name
similar to NeuraPrinter-BW. BW mode is set in printing preferences/defaults Print Quality Tab.
For BW only printing CHECK the "Print in black and white" mode box. This will make the printer
a black and white printer by default (for this print driver), but will allow you to override this setting
for individual print jobs.
The NeuraLabel 500e driver is a PCL-XL host-based proprietary format print driver delivering
continuous prints with optimal color and performance. The driver was developed by Lexmark
International, Inc. specifically for use with NeuraLabel 500e. It is only available through
Neuralog. Check for driver updates at www.neuralog.com.

2.11 Setting up Multiple printers

If you need to set up multiple printers for your office there is a tool to expedite this process. The
printer web server interface contains a Copy Printer Settings function that allows you to copy
the settings of a source printer to other printers on the network. This interface runs a java
application so you will need to have java installed on the client workstation.
Settings that are copied include all Continuous parameter settings, General Settings, many of the
Print Settings. Any printers involved must have the same firmware versions. This function
cannot be used to update the firmware on your Neuralog printers. If the printers are not
compatible and error message will be given. Also if any parameter fails to be copied, an error
message is given.
The Copy Printer Settings function is self-explanatory. The printer whose interface you are
accessing can be the source or a target. You can copy a source printer's settings to up to 15
target printers. The program takes about 5 minutes to run and works over your local network.
