1.1 A Printing Solution Your NeuraLabel 500e Continuous Label Printer is more than just a printer; it is a complete printing solution. This solution includes the continuous feed print engine, the continuous form...
The Continuous Form Attachment is manufactured by Neuralog, LP. The NeuraLabel 500e CFA has been designed to work with the NeuraLabel 500e printer. It is not compatible with the original NeuraLabel printer; nor is the original NeuraLabel CFA compatible with this next generation printer.
The Printer Operator Panel is a touch screen display and control panel located on the front of the NeuraLabel 500e. It is used to view and set printer functionality and job status. Default values are customizable.Note that most printer functions are accessed through the menu button found in the lower right corner of the screen.
Figure 1-4. NeuraLabel 500e Print Cartridges 1.2.8 Fuser The fuser is the part of the printer that melts the toner onto the media. For the NeuraLabel 500e the fuser is located on the LEFT side of the printer. Neuralog provides fusers for the NeuraLabel 500e.
See Chapter 3. Printing Applications. 1.2.14 Cut Location NeuraLabel 500e cuts the continuous form label media at the end of a job. The cut must occur on the label backing near the perforation to avoid getting label glue on the cutter. The desired location for the cut is usually about 1/32”...
NeuraLabel will have an easy time transitioning to the new device. 1.3.1 Attributes that affect the Print NeuraLabel 500e has both increased speed and quality. It also has additional features related to controlling cutting and setting a top margin. The table below depicts some of these differences as well as similarities.
1.3.3 Extended Life Consumables Consumables for NeuraLabel 500e like its predecessor are all extra high yield. Toner cartridges are recyclable as before and can be returned with included Return Label. All consumables are available for sale at Neuralog’s online store.
NeuraLabel Setup 2.1 Setting up the Printer NeuraLabel 500e setup is simple and should only take a few minutes. Before you begin, you will need to choose an easily accessible location and decide how the printer will be integrated into your network.
12 inches away from the CFA. This will allow the media to properly unfold as it leaves the box. The NeuraLabel 500e has been designed to pull continuous form labels directly from the box. However, it is important to make sure the media flow is in no way restricted by the box lid, placement of the box, or by plastic in the box.
Select a location for your printer that is near a power outlet. When running at full functionality, printers consume a significant amount of power. Using a power strip or long extension cord can interfere with printing. NeuraLabel 500e can be 110v or 220v. Make sure you have the correct printer for your power conditions.
NeuraLabel 500e User Guide 1. With both hands carefully snap the CFA onto the printer metal mounting rod using the two hooks. Facing the printer control panel, the CFA will be installed on the LEFT side. Make sure each hook is completely attached to the rod. ...
This sequence can be observed by cycling the printer power. The NeuraLabel 500e printer switches to a power saving mode or sleep state when there is no activity. When the printer is in the sleep state it stops power to the CFA. You will notice the CFA turn OFF at this time.
2.5.1 Loading the Continuous Form Media Media is loaded into the NeuraLabel 500e printer with the marks face up. (This is different than the original NeuraLabel printer.) Using two hands pick up the first sheet of continuous form labels and then place them in the CFA within the guides. Gently move the media along the track.
2.5.3 Choosing the Correct Start Page The NeuraLabel 500e is set up to print immediately on the first sheet of the fanfold labels. For proper folding, it is necessary that the infold page is loaded first to allow for optimal folding into the basket.
2.7 Setting up the Printer Network Connection There are many options for setting up your printer on a network. For the most simple static address setup of your NeuraLabel 500e follow these steps. For other configurations, please see your system administrator.

Neuralog has extensively tested specific media that work well with the NeuraLabel 500e and selected the best label brands and types to recommend to the end user. Our testing has shown that using other media can lead to prints of inferior quality and possibly even CFA or printer jams.
There should not be a chad near the perforation on the page you load as this might cause the media to snag. If your NeuraLabel 500e system is leaving a chad on the first page of the print, contact Neuralog support for an adjustment to the cut location.
If your printing system is not making cuts to this specification, please contact Neuralog support for an adjustment. The CFA uses a ceramic rotary blade cutter mounted on a large screw drive. It is driven by a bidirectional motor and can cut from either the Left or Right starting position.
4.4 Printing in Color or Black-and-White While NeuraLabel 500e has full color printing capabilities, it also has a special mode allowing it to be used as a Black-and-White laser printer. When in its normal print mode all four cartridges are engaged in the printing process.

Turn the printer OFF before changing the Toner Waste Container. Open the printer front panel and pull out the cut sheet tray. Locate and open a new Neuralog supplied Toner Waste Container. Detailed installation instructions will come with the new part. Follow these directions.
7.8 Locating your printer Neuralog ID The Neuralog ID is a number assigned to your NeuraLabel 500e printer to make it easier to provide support. The Neuralog ID will be of the form 3000L. To locate your printer’s Neuralog ID do the following.
1-800-364-8728. Be sure to allow for adequate shipping time when placing orders. Neuralog accepts credit cards and other standard means of payment. To monitor supply status, open the NeuraLabel 500e Web page by typing your printer’s IP address into a web browser.
Lexmark are either reused or demanufactured for recycling. Boxes used to return the cartridges are also recycled. All NeuraLabel 500e cartridges come with return labels included with free shipping in the package. To return Lexmark cartridges for reuse or recycling, follow the instructions that came with your printer or cartridge and use the pre-paid shipping label.
If the print does not come out correctly, you will need to resend the print job to your NeuraLabel 500e since it does not remain on the printer. In the case of short paper (media running out during a print), for example, the job must be resubmitted. However in some instances the print will be reprinted or restarted once the problem is alleviated.
Neuralog Support. 8.2 Jams NeuraLabel 500e rarely has jams for continuous printing. If a jam occurs it is most likely that the paper path has been obstructed or is not straight. If your printer does have problems with jamming, contact Neuralog Support immediately.
If you have any trouble removing media from the Continuous Form Attachment, contact Neuralog Support. 8.2.3 Jams inside printer The NeuraLabel 500e rarely jams. If a jam does occur , the print should reprint as 1 0 F soon as the jam is cleared.
NeuraLabel 500e User Guide Figure 8-1. Removing Jammed Continuous Form Media 8.2.4 Jams inside printer entrance If a print jams immediately as it enters the printer the media is easily removed. There is a gray trigger right above where the media enters the printer. This trigger controls a wheel that holds the media in place as it moves.
NeuraLabel 500e User Guide PRINTING. This may damage the CFA or printer. If you need to end a print, use the printer Cancel button. If the continuous form media does get caught inside the fuser, a message will appear in the operator panel. The media is removed as follows. Be careful since any toner not yet fused to the media easily comes off on ones hands and clothes.
NeuraLabel 500e User Guide If media is inside the fuser unit, press the lever and pull green the fuser access door down. The inside of the Caution! printer/MFP may be hot. Allow it to cool before continuing. Firmly grasp the jammed media on each side, and then gently pull it out to prevent tearing.
8.4 Blank pages at end of print NeuraLabel 500e includes 2-4 blank forms at the end of each print as part of its normal printing process, depending on the media size. These pages are a necessary part of producing quality prints.
Open the printer door and remove the cartridge. The error will identify which cartridge to remove. Reseat the cartridge. See the Setup instructions that came with your printer if you need help. Contact Neuralog Support if the problem persists.
8.6.3 Cutter does not cut The NeuraLabel 500e cutter is rated to 20,000 cuts. It is unlikely that the cutter blade will become dull within the first few years of use, as long as it is cutting along the label backing and not on the label itself.
