AUTOMATIC FAX/PHONE RECOGNITION MODE
When set to this mode, after a certain number of rings the fax machine will connect to the line and is then
able to distinguish between telephone and fax calls. This operating mode is recommended when the fax
machine and telephone both use the same line.
Set-up of the automatic fax/phone recognition mode is indicated in this chart.

The display shows the initial operating mode, i.e., automatic reception.

Press RX MODE repeatedly to select the PHONE/FAX reception
mode.
If the call is a telephone call:
The fax recognizes that it is a telephone call, emits an acoustic
signal and the display prompts you to pick up the handset. If the
line is dead press STOP.

you do not answer within the time period set in the section:
INSTALLATION PARAMETERS , (see Programming Chart and
Description of Sub-Menu: Tel. Line Set-Up ), during which, an
acoustic signal is given, the fax will automatically prepare to
receive a fax and the message FAX CALL will be displayed.
If the call is a fax call:
The fax recognizes that it is a fax call and prepares to receive a
document. The display shows the message CONNECTING
followed by the number of the remote fax, or, if programmed, the
name of the sender.
After the document has been received, the message "RX
COMPLETED" will appear for a few seconds followed by the
operating mode.

the paper or ink runs out, the paper jams or the printer cover
is opened during reception, reception is interrupted, the
relative message is displayed and the document is temporarily
stored in memory. Once the problem has been remedied, the
machine will resume printing.

you want to interrupt reception at any time:
1) Press STOP. The display will alternate between the
message RX INTERRUPTED and the message prompting
you to press STOP.
2) Press STOP to return to the initial operating mode.
