Connection to an External Line
By pressing the EXT. key before dialling a number, connection can be made to an external telephone
line according to the mode in which it was programmed (prefix, earth, flash). This function is used
when a fax is connected to a private switchboard (PABX). When this function is activated, the letter "e"
(external) will appear on the display.
Pause
By pressing the PAUSE key during the dialling of a number, that is between one number and another,
the fax inserts a pause before dialling the following digits of the selected number.
Second Tone
By pressing the 2 TONE key during the dialling of a number, the fax detects a second tone from the
exchange. This function is used for the connection to particular telephone exchanges. When this
function is activated, the ":" symbol will appear on the display.
NOTE:
By programming these special functions in Speed Dial Codes and One Touch Keys, they are also used
by automatic dialling.

REDIALLING

A telephone or fax number is redialled when the initial connection is unsuccessful whether due to an error
on the fax machine or on the telephone line or because the line is engaged. Redialling of the fax or
telephone number is tied to whether a document is inserted in the fax. If a document is inserted, redialling
of the fax number is carried out otherwise it is the telephone number. Redialling is performed automatically
by the fax machine or manually with the REDIAL key at the discretion of the user.
NOTE:
As the most frequent use of the dialling procedures is to send faxes, and as they are thus closely linked to
transmission, further explanation of these procedures will be given in the section TRANSMISSION.
